I'll be speaking in the Topos institute colloquium at the following time:

I'll be talking about an ongoing collaboration with some philosophers of language (Robert Brandom, Ulf Hlobil). The first half will rehearse parts of my ACT2026 talk, and the second half will have some new material on generalizing the project to include predicate logic via nominal sets. Title: "Deriving semantics from pragmatics"

Abstract: The philosophical tradition of 'analytic pragmatism' attempts to account for linguistic meanings in terms of their practices of use. In particular, 'logical expressivism' is a theory which offers a distinct perspective on the role of logic, in contrast to the traditional picture of logical calculi regulating how to derive new judgments from assumed ones. Instead, we start with all judgments in some vocabulary arbitrarily marked as good or bad (taken as raw, input data), and from that we generate a space of semantic values and a semantic consequence relation. Into this space we can interpret the original vocabulary along with propositional connectives. This talk sheds light on a recent formalization of logical expressivism (Reasons for Logic, Logic for Reasons 2024) by reconstructing its method of deriving formal propositional semantics from the radically-substructural input data. We'll also extend the formalism to address predicates and logical quantification.
