Just a quick bump with an image of how this calculus functions as a term language for (Cartesian) string diagrams, differently from the lambda-calculus. I'm currently working on extending this operational interpretation of string diagrams to those for e.g., hypergraph categories, phase-free ZX, graphical linear algebra...

Eventually I hope to write up some "popular account" of these ideas.
