We are hiring PhD students in Computational Mathematics and Mathematics at Stockholm University:
https://su.varbi.com/en/what:job/jobID:807359/where:4/
https://su.varbi.com/en/what:job/jobID:803014/where:4/
Application deadline: April 22
Please help spread the word to students who are interested in doing a PhD on type theory, HoTT, computer formalization of CS and math, constructive mathematics, etc. Note that PhD students here are employed with a salary and that the position comes with benefits. There are also no tuition fees.
If you are a student interested in doing a PhD with me you are welcome to apply to both positions above, just make sure you apply to the one in Computational Mathematics as that is the division I formally belong to. Please also specify clearly that you want me as an advisor in your application (e.g. in your cover letter).
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Would students from the US be able to get such positions, or only students from the EU? I imagine there are a lot of good American students wanting to leave the US now.
Yes, the positions are open to all nationalities. The same goes for the assistant professorship I posted about in February
Great! I'll advertise the position on Mastodon.
I copied your advertisements to Mastodon starting with "Want to leave the US?", and so far 243 have reshared that post, making it one of my most popular.
I pity the masters students who have to compete with even more international peers for the limited PhD positions remaining under continuing austerity :hurt:
I had a lot of trouble getting a job in the late 1980s and early 1990s when the market was flooded with top-notch Russian mathematicians after the Iron Curtain fell. So yes, it's very tough.

Wow, thank a lot for sharing it. Over 600 boosts now :open_mouth:
Yes, it's shocking. It's due to the crisis in the USA, with lots of people wanting to leave. I hope unqualified people don't apply.
