Jules Hedges renamed stream values to general: values.
For anyone seeing this later:
This stream was created following a UCR seminar led by Nina Otter on Inclusivity and Diversity in mathematics. The aim of this stream is to discuss ideas and plans for addressing all issues discussed in that talk (I expect the topic titles will speak for themselves to explain what those topics include).
Thanks everyone for the great discussion.
some topics:
Minorities in Applied Category Theory (MACT - Jade's new program)
Outreach - how do we go beyond the usual network of academics?
Mentor/Ambassador/Study Group programs
Funding/Affiliations (how to use money for inclusivity; should we be involved with military contractors?)
Manifesto - work together to put our principles into writing.
Server - how to make this server as welcoming as possible.
The Wiki - making a resource for everyone to learn category theory.
and plenty more.
by the way @John Baez, could you share the text file of the zoom chat?
@Barbara Giunti posted a graphic interview with Susanna Terracini, talking about trying to improve the system through the European Women in Mathematics Association: https://www.europeanwomeninmaths.org/terracini-rojas-molina/
Nathanael Arkor changed the access permissions for this stream from Public to Web-public.
@Nathanael Arkor NO, please change this one back asap
Yeah, this is the stream where people really embarrass themselves. I don't know what the difference is between "public" and "web-public", but I'm surprised this stream was public at all.
Matteo Capucci (he/him) changed the description for this stream.
Inclusivity, Diversity, Ethics. What do we stand for? What are we going to do?
What do we stand for? What do we like? What do we dislike? What shall we do?
Matteo Capucci (he/him) renamed stream community: values to community: discussion.
