Over in #ACT@UCR seminar they're having a big discussion about the category of open dynamical systems, I believe the one defined in https://arxiv.org/abs/1704.02051. In my mind this is one of the most obvious tools to try to apply categories in macro and OR
(if you follow me on twitter you probably know I've been reading Forrester's Industrial Dynamics, which is cybernetics-oriented operations research from the 60s that can clearly be categorificated using a setup like that
The other obvious-looking hammer to try to hit econ with is Categories in Control
It's maybe not unreasonable to try to model supply chains with stochastic petri nets, which functorially map into dynamical systems, that's the subject of the paper I linked
Very interested in these topics as I mentioned elsewhere. I’m struggling to find the discussion in that stream though. Is there an easier way to find it?
